Ayr Central security team win coveted Sceptre Award

Ayrshire shopping centre, Ayr Central, Security Team has been named Security Team of the Year 2020 at the prestigious Sceptre Awards.

The Sceptre Awards, which recognise best people and best practice in the retail destination industry were announced last night, Thursday 26th November, at a virtual awards ceremony hosted by BBC TV’s Alan Dedicoat. Awards were declared in 20 categories covering all aspects of the management and operation of successful retail destinations.

Graham Parker, chair of the judging panel and editor of Retail Destination, said: “In an unprecedented year that has seen non-essential shops closed for long periods and social distancing measures imposed throughout the malls, management teams at retail destinations across the UK have gone above and beyond to ensure that their centres remain a safe and attractive place to visit.”

The judging panel of industry experts were impressed by the quality of entries across the board, many of which showed true innovation in very difficult circumstances.

The security team at Ayr Central have taken on responsibility for more than just security, they have become the public face of the centre.

They are the primary contact for occupiers, welcome hosts and brand ambassadors. The judges said: “Good entry backed by testimonials with a clear tenant focus.” And: “Real team engagement and good testimonials.”

On receiving the accolade George Reader, Ayr Central’s centre manager said: “This was a fantastic night for the Centre, Ayr and the team – I’m so proud of the whole team here at Ayr Central who work tirelessly every day to deliver exceptional service.

“It is a huge achievement to win against such tough competition from the brightest and best in the shopping centre industry.”
